Extract from programme note:
"The first movement is a lullaby that drifts between the worlds of consciousness and sleep accompanied by the comfort, peril and/or escapism found in the poetry of the Shipping Forecast. The second movement dwells in an eerie sine-tone world that comes from the Greenwich Time Signal 'pips' (six sine tone beeps that mark each hour). To me there is a latent activity inherent in the silences between the pips and it is this imaginary space that I hope to explore."
