Poems of 1912-13 - Elegies for Emma
(Thomas Hardy Song Cycle) Forces: mezzo-soprano & guitar Duration: c. 18 minutes (5 songs + interlude) A cycle of songs setting Hardy's Poems of 1912-13. This is one strand of my Thomas Hardy project, which also includes new arrangements of Hardy songs from across the 20th Century, other new song commissions and a string quartet with voice. |
Dorian (dance piece)

The narrative is inspired by the tale of Dorian Gray and the music builds on ideas in my chamber work Suite for Dorian which was developed as part of the LSO Soundhub Showcase scheme in 2022. |

The version with singer places four interludes between movements setting Larkin's The Mower (which riffs on Hardy's piece Afterwards).
